In The Garden reflects the first painting in a untitled biblical series the artist is in the process of creating. The series will take on chronological depictions of the 66 books of the bible. Starting with the book of Genesis, In The Garden depicts the well-known story of Adam & Eve. Rich in color choice and vibrancy, the scene shows Adam and Eve more intimately than Early Christian Art or the Renaissance period. The objective is selectively personal to be face to face with the viewer. The portrait is illustrative and intentionally seductive in nature. With purpose, the artist shows images of fruit and a lively garden surrounding the two individuals. Dissonance and discord between the many fruit elements is arranged to create a sudden chaos or hint at “the fall.” Albeit, the appreciation of harmony in the color palette hopes to offset some of the tension for the viewer.

Fruit represents the fruits of the spirit as well as the forbidden fruit that Eve picked off the Tree of knowledge of Good and Evil. The background is specifically wrapped around Adam & Eve, encapsulating “Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they realized they were naked; so they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves” Genesis 3:7.
